Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional: Pearl Primer Review + Swatches

Benefit Cosmetics are introducing a new member to the POREfessional family. The POREfessional Pearl Primer promises to minimise pores whilst boosting radiance. I didn't even realise , until now, that this product was what I had been waiting for! Having an oily skin type I am constantly using pore minimisers and mattifying products. But, it would be nice to have a product which could hide pores and provide a subtle glow without letting the shine break through. This is what I am hoping the product will achieve.

I am lucky enough to have been able to get my hands on a sample. Although I understand samples were included in a recent Birch Box. So, I have this here to share with you today including swatches and whether or not this actually lives up to my huge expectations!

About the Product

The power of The POREfessional ... PLUS brightening! This soft-radiance primer instantly minimizes the appearance of the pores, locks on makeup and helps skin look bright, boosted and awake. It's the same oil-free, lightweight, silky smooth texture as the original The POREfessional: Pore Primer PLUS and hint of soft pearly pink. Pores and dullness do not stand a chance!

The primer itself is a very light rose colour. I smoothed a decent amount using my fingers all over the face. On first impressions it doesn't provide an obvious glow to the complexion, if comparing to the Becca Backlight Priming Filter for instance. However, this does brighten/lighten the complexion due to the light pink shade. The primer goes on smoothly and leaves skin feeling soft with imperfections blurred creating a nice base for makeup. I wore this primer on two consecutive days where I was on the go for around 12 hours. I did notice that my makeup wasn't lasting as long as usual and there was shine breakthrough sooner than normal.

Overall, this primer does a great job at smoothing imperfections and minimising pores. It certainly has a soft matte finish and brightens the complexion. For me this didn't achieve a noticeable glow. I was expecting a much more dazzling radiance which lives up to the name 'pearl'.

I think you will get on with this primer really well if you have normal or normal combination dry skin. However, if like me your skin type is more oily I don't think this is one for us.

It looks like I'll have wait a little longer for the product I was dreaming about at the beginning of this post!
